2008 a few years in for my hobby.I am
still trying to retire from nearly 20 years of being a chef.
,I hope to keep finding old BritishClassics and
dust them off, tweek them up and see who remembers their youth,
and maybe find a new generation who will love them as much as we
do!!
The first car I bought after high
school was a 1959 TR3 it was silver, but ended up red.
As I recall, I did more repair and towing of the car
because I was naïve. I thought you could get into a British
Sports car and drive it! After a few years,
and a few more British vehicles, I know better!!!
After
several years of stop and go adventures in the TR, I acquired a
1958 MGA. Maggie was the most dependable car
I think I ever owned, regardless of country of origin.
I bought her for $700.I drove that car all over the state
but only learned to love the car not repair it because it never
broke down!! It was sold with the TR3 the
carbs-in-a-box, both for $2000. I was to get
a family car .An instant family and a move to Texas was the end
of the early days. I have learned much more about fixing them in
my last 10 years!
In
the 80s, I tried a MGC-GT. What a hot car!!!
Not being a convertible, that 6 cylinder roasted my toes.
It had to go! In the 90s an MGB-GT,a '71, held together
with bailing wire and, actually, duct tape, rust red, was
holding the rocker panels on!! For only
another $700,that resto wreck lasted until I was able to find
and afford a '72 TR6, but that is a story unto itself.
So to
understate, you do not just hop in your British sports car and
go!!A dedicated driver checks all recommended fluid levels,then
starts the car, ahh what a
sound.closes the bonnet and is patient. The S.U.s or
Strombergs need to warm to operating temps!! Only
now will you be able to enjoy your adventure. You
can go anywhere.. Provided you have a
cell phone, credit card and AAA.

1981 Alfa Romeo Spider.Exellent Italian sports car with out the Ferrari price
this car has 5 speed tranny fuel injection ,electric windows,new top rebuilt alternator,newer brakes,with tonneau cover and top boot.new wires,plugs cap and rotor,Florida car with all original bits.
90,000 miles sharp car timeless styling. will never be worth less money and always a head turner!!I should be able to part with this one for between $5,700 and $6,500 depending on cost of new paint after small amount of body work to be done.... ..more at this link soon

Shane, The car is great, more than I hoped for. The paint job and color is simply breath-taking. I cleaned up the car , detailed it (NO WAX) and entered it in a local British car show and would you believe it took "BEST IN SHOW", I was astonished, best in show,WOW. That orange color is unbelievable, everyone who sees the color falls in love with it. When I told my neighbor the color was orange, he said" do you think you really want an orange car". He came over yesterday and said, John, I never thought I would say this but that color is beaitiful. Thanks again for a very nice car and best regards, John.

This is a note from an old time British car owner!!!>Buyer's Guide for the Married Man (or) How To Justify Buying My Car to a Significant Other
There's no rational justification for buying this car so you'll need to stretch the truth. For example if you're a one-car household you could say it's the second car for commuting to a nearby employer or for getting groceries. You and I both know your employer doesn't look favorably on iconoclasts in tiny cars who arrive late and blame dodgy Lucas electrics. We also know that this is the wrong car for trips to Costco, but it's all about the S.O. (significant other) at this point. You can call it an economy car as it's a 1500cc 4-cylinder car that weighs about as much as a full dress Harley Davidson so your nose won't go Pinocchio on this point. You could also point out you've upped your life insurance to a cool $1 million dollars and this car doesn't have air bags & sits at the height of a big rig's lug nuts. Think outside the box. You can do it. Working together we are a team. (Bonus points: this car played a role in the unraveling of a particularly dumb marriage, and for that I am glad. I should keep it as a memento but feel it might help some other trapped person break the bonds of a loveless relationship.)!
